Pub-walks

The pub-walk, an old cotswold tradition, is to meet at a public house (bar), order some food, walk for a good long way, then return to the pub for the food. This past week, we went on two different walks, both about 5 miles and through some of the prettiest scenery in all of Brittania--here's a taste:

Naunton

5 Mile Inn

This is the pub we ate at--apparently it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 years old. The doorways are approximately 5' 7".

That place is gorgeous! You're never coming back across the pond now, are you? It's all amazing scenery, 300-year-old public houses, and 5'7" doors for the Cores now, isn't it?

we'll be back (but we might not be happy about it). so we're soaking it all in while we can.

Man, talk about a dreadful place. I can just tell from the pictures. I didn't see one bumper-to-bumper highway or even a hint of sprawling suburbia. And I bet a thick, crusty layer of charm has settled over everything in that old pub. Who needs it?
